Tiaki Wai – caring for water

In the interest of simplicity, after consultation with shareholding councils and mana whenua partners, the Tiaki Wai Board has decided to drop ‘Metro Water’ from the organisation's legal name. We are now Tiaki Wai Limited, or just Tiaki Wai.

New Lower Hutt water well to boost regional water supply resilience

Wellington Water, on behalf of Greater Wellington, is installing a new water well in Ludlam Park, in Woburn, Lower Hutt to improve regional water supply resilience. It’s part of a long-term, strategic project to plan for the eventual replacement of the existing eight wells in Waterloo, Lower Hutt and build new ones. These wells bring up water from the Waiwhetū Aquifer and into the region’s homes and businesses.

Water Restrictions Level 1 beginning this Sunday

Wellington City, Hutt City, and Porirua City will move to Water Restrictions Level 1 from 12:01am on Sunday, 28 September. These cities will join Upper Hutt City and South Wairarapa District, which remain on Level 1 all year round.
